Open-Source Centaur Figures (General Release 1.1 of 23-Jan-2006) These Poser models are being released back into the Open 3D Project resources per the included license. The models are fully Poser(*) ready and rigged for use in Poser5 and higher but should work in Poser ProPack with slight modifications and will probably also work in DAZ|Studio(**), though the author has not tested that. The models are provided unrestricted for use and modification as provided by the Open Source 3D license. Anyone making modifications to the models for redistribution for free or for sale must comply with the Open Source 3D license and show the family tree of this version of the Poser model. The centaur figures are derived from "Woman ArmsUp PoserScale" and "Zygote Horse" by Zygote Media Group, Inc. The original geometries may be obtained as follows: "Woman ArmsUp PoserScale" is available at http://www.open3dproject.org. Click on Zygote Female 3D Human Model"; the OBJ file and its governing license are in a ZIP file downloadable from there (registration required). "Zygote Horse" is available at http://3dscience.com, as one of four models in a ZIP avaialble there (again, registration required). The clothing props are original, as is the rigging, the modifications to the above-referenced geometries to produce the figures and the UV maps. See the copyright notice below for a complete derivation history. Note: Restrictions on use 1. The Zygote open-source license for the human figure prohibits "the explicit depiction or exhibition of sexual activity that is intended to stimulate erotic, rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings." 2. The Gaean figures depict members of a fictional species inspired by depictions of a similar species by the author John Varley in his Gaean Trilogy (Titan, Wizard and Demon). Although I use the term "Gaean" to label the species, I do not assert that these figures are exactly what Mr. Varley was describing. These models were created without Mr. Varley's knowledge or permission. As such, commercial use of images of these figures could be questionable. (I am not a lawyer.) Please honor the spirit of the Open Source movement for 3D models and help make it work for everyone. davewa - David A. Note that the clothing are smart-props. The vest is parented to torso3 and the sporran is parented to chest. Notes and limitations of this version: 1. There are no body textures supplied. I've assigned reasonable solid-color materials to the generic centaurs and fanciful ones to the Gaeans. 2. The rigging is less than perfect. Be conservative with poses and the renders will look pretty good. Pose with limits ON. 3. The mouth doesn't open. There are some bugs with posing the eyes. On the other hand, the ears pose nicely. 4. There are no textures or texture templates for the clothing. There are, however, several material zones. 5. The bend problem with the hands in version 1.0 has been corrected. --------------------- 01/23/2006 Copyright (c) 2006 by David A.
